Environmental Contribution:
Sign the Vail Gore Creek Petition
The Vail Gore Creek Petition is in large part an awareness campaign trying to bring attention to a corporate ski-industry monopolies’ long-standing negligent operations. This year, 2025, a restoration project is taking place in Vail, CO due to Vail Resorts accidental toxic water dump into a wild aquatic ecosystem. This incident poisoned 1.5 mies of Gore Creek –which is prized in Colorado as Gold Medal Waters– killed over 100 fish and many more other aquatic wildlife. The kicker, they only got stuck with 40% of the bill for a $617,000 project.
This is a multi-billon dollar company touting an “Epic Promise” –a sustainability and stewardship initiative– that didn’t pick up much slack for the community they helped damage, didn’t claim accountability for the spill, settled in court for $275k, did damage control PR and ultimately continued to carry on with this type of behavior in the 2020’s with more incidents surrounding this one…

The petition aims to hold Vail Resorts to a higher standard in taking accountability for their environmental pollution & negligent impacts. We call on them to provide more transparency on the Gore Creek spill, explain their shortcomings regarding the Epic Promise, and rebuild trust with the people over this revealing and disappointing reality.
Help protect our public lands, water, wildlife and natural resources from this type of treatment.

Societal Effort:
Share the Petition
A way you can do your part in getting people involved is by sharing this petition on social media or by word of mouth. Talk with friends and family and encourage them to do the same. One of the most effective ways to get support behind these types of movements is by engaing with your peers and conveying your own genuine passion or interest on the matter.
The Vail Gore Creek Petition has the potential to be the start to something much larger for players that profit hundreds of millions of dollars off our public lands, utilizing our natural resources and does so carelessly.

You and I can only hope that our fellow community members start to see what’s been going on, and care about it enough to realize how powerful we are when we all come together to fight for something we believe in.

Body:
Get 30 Minutes of Exercise a Day
How can you live sustainably? It starts with a healthy body. One of the easiest and most fun ways to do this is to simply get outside and move around for 30 minutes each day. Go for a walk, feel the sun, smell the fresh air, enjoy the birds sing, maybe take a dip in the creek or just stick your feet in the dirt!

While this is a daily practice, it’s especially helpful to remember when feeling down or overwhelmed with life in any way. Getting in the sun, feeling the earth beneath your bare feet (grounding) and breathing the fresh air will discharge your electrical body and recharge your spiritual body – in short this will give you a quick reset. This can be looked at as a mind/body exercise.
Mind:
30 Minutes of Silence & Stillness
You know you can do this, you do this probably everyday, except this time it will be without your iPad or smartphone… A daily 30+ minutes of silence & stillness can be thought of as a meditation. However, a lot of people have trouble or no interest in traditional meditation practices, and understandably so. They can be boring, even difficult. If you are perhaps in that boat –even those who aren't– give this practice of silence and stillness a try. Some say this is a step into deeper meditation practice, so this can prove useful in more ways than one.

Silence & stillness practice:
To do this exercise, it’s luckily just as easy as it sounds. I recommend finding a comfortable place to sit, consider next to a window or in a nice setting you enjoy or appreciate (inside or outside). You can lay down if you won’t fall asleep, however if that’s what your body needs, let it happen. Just remember for next time.
You’ll want to get comfortable in any position you’d like and remain still and silent, audibly & mentally.
Clear your mind with some deep breathes and have a conscious understanding with yourself what you are doing. Being silent and still with a clear mind.
Feel free to be immersed in your surroundings, no need to close your eyes if you don’t want to.
Witness any thoughts that arise and as soon as you begin to indulge in them, silence the mind again. It’s important not to judge these thoughts or have any attachments to them. Let them go like an unknotted, airborne balloon loosing air. This will likely continue but in the intermittence of mental silence bring your awareness back to your original intention of silence, stillness and clear mind.
The next step is a manifestation technique. Are you interested in learning it?
Fun fact: 2+ hours of silence can reprogram braincells

Consider these things to help you and our planet live more sustainably together! Thanks for reading!
